Doula Services FAQS

  • A Doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to a mother before, during and shortly after childbirth to help her achieve the healthiest, birth experience possible.

  • Most midwives have an educational background in labor and delivery and are trained to provide you with medical care and the delivery of your baby, usually out of hospital. A doula, is knowledgeable on pregnancy and childbirth, but does not provide you with any type of medical care such as vaginal exams, monitoring your baby's heart rate, and catching your baby.

  • Before the big day arrives, your doula will get to know you and help equip you with knowledge on birth plans, pain management techniques and how best they can assist during labour. They'll be a reassuring presence for any questions or worries about what lies ahead; plus give tips to involve partners in making this a memorable experience. And when it comes time - rest assured that if there is confusion over whether 'true' labor has begun- your trusty doula knows exactly what steps come next!

  • Having a birth doula is an amazing way to support and guide you throughout the pregnancy, labor, delivery and postpartum periods. From providing emotional comfort during contractions to advocating for your wishes at the hospital or birthing center -- these incredible companions can make all of parenthood's major moments smoother! Looking into this priceless resource could have many benefits along every step in becoming a parent.
